Students thrash cops in the heart of TVM city
text_fieldsThiruvananthapuram: A groups of students, likely Students Federation of India (SFI) activists brutally beat up traffic cops on duty in the city on Wednesday evening.
Photographs of the assault have surfaced online. SFI is the students’ wing of the ruling CPI (M).
Vinayachandran and Sharath of SP Police Camp were beaten up in public for stopping a bike that violated traffic signal.
The cops who sustained serious injuries, have been admitted to the General Hospital.
The incident took place at the War Memorial at Palayam on Wednesday at 6 pm.
About 20 SFI workers assaulted the cops as bystanders watched. The delay in the arrival of police personnel worsened the situation.
The attack in the middle of the road in the heart of the city sent the traffic into a tailspin as well.
