Kudumbashree to offer free job training for 50,000 flood victims
text_fieldsThiruvananthapuram: In a bid to help about 50,000 persons who lost their livelihood in the flood, Kudumbashree is planning to provide free job training and financial assistance for starting new enterprises. The job training programme ‘Arise’ is of three months’ duration.
After the training is completed, they will also offer financial assistance to start individual and joint enterprises. Along with women, the men who are family members of Kudumbashree workers also can take part in the training.
Earlier, a survey was conducted in order to find out the job sectors in which availability of employees is rather low and Kudumbashree workers can be trained.
According to this, data entry, plumbing, electrical works, agriculture-related works, laundry and ironing, sales, housekeeping and day care jobs were selected.
If required, people from outside the flood-hit areas also can participate in the training programme. The registration for the training has commenced in all districts. Interested people should register at the Community Development Societies (CDS) before January 1.
The training will begin from January 1 onwards. Government authorised agencies will be conducting the training programme. The duration of the training courses ranges from five to 25 days.
