High Court panel satisfied with amenities at Nilackal
text_fieldsPathanamthitta: The three-member panel, appointed by High Court to monitor the conduct of festival season at Sabarimala, visited Nilakkal and Pampa on Monday and expressed satisfaction at the basic amenities at Nilakkal.
The team comprising former HC judges P.R. Raman and S. Sirijagan and DGP A Hemchandran inspected the pilgrim facilities at Nilakkal.
They interacted with heads of various government agencies at Nilakkal before leaving for Pampa.
KSRTC managing director Tomin Thachankary told the panel the need for setting up a waiting shed at Pampa-Triveni.
Meanwhile, R. Ajithkumar, Devaswom executive engineer, informed the panel of the willingness of TDB to erect a temporary pilgrim shelter if the Forest Department allowed the land.
The panel said the matter would be taken up at a meeting of departmental heads at Sannindhanam on Tuesday.
The HC panel directed authorities to create smooth flow of Njunangar stream after finding that the stagnant water there posed pollution threat to Pampa.
The sand deposits along the 12-km stretch on the banks of the Pampa be removed, they suggested.
The panel inspected facilities at Pampa and will visit the Sabarimala Sannidhanam on Tuesday.
