Thiruvananthapuram: K T Adeeb, the relative of minister K T Jaleel, has resigned from his post as general manager of Kerala State Minorities Development Finance Corporation (KSMDFC), following the controversy regarding the appointment.

Muslim Youth League, the youth wing of Indian Union Muslim League had kicked up a row about Adeeb's qualification and suitability for the post in relation to other applicants and the same was taken up by the UDF allies too.

KSMDFC managing director V K Akbar confirmed having received an e-mail from Adeeb seeking to end his deputation and allow him to return to South Indian Bank, his parent firm. "Abeeb said in the email that he had taken up the post to serve people but the controversy over his posting hurt his self-respect and he is not interested to continue in the post. A director board meeting of the corporation will take a decision on his request on Monday," he said.

The opposition had alleged that Adeeb was posted without giving any advertisement and after the Corporation adjusted the qualification requirements to suit him.

The CPM state secretariat had thrown its weight behind the minister and rejected the opposition demand for his resignation.
