Thiruvanthapuram: Kerala police will treat women’s rights activist Trupti Desai like other devotees without providing any special security.

Earlier Desai in a letter to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan sought protection for the seven women visiting the temple on November 17.

The copy of the letter sent to, among others, Prime Minister Modi also said she would return only after offering prayers.

She received threats since announcing her decision to visit Sabarimala, according to the letter; “I have received around 300 threats including those stating that I will not return to Maharashtra and will be chopped into pieces. Considering the situation, ample security must be provided to us” the letter said.

As part of evaluating security at Sabarimala, DGP Lokanath Behara will arrive at the shrine shortly.
