Protest not against entry of women, but against communist govt: Pillai

Kozhikode: The ongoing Sabarimala-protests are not against entry of women to the temple but against the communist government in the state, said PS Sreedharan Pillai on Monday, making clear his party’s stand on Supreme Court verdict.

"Communists are trying to destroy the temple, our protest is against the communists," Pillai said.

BJP chief’s latest statement harmonises with his party’s previous stand that welcomed SC verdict.

Soon BJP changed its stand as Hindu outfits whipped up frenzy against the verdict.

Earlier this month, at a youth conclave of his party, Pillai was videotaped as describing the Sabarimala issue a “golden opportunity for the party”, ensuing a controversy.

Pillai’s latest stand offers a windfall leverage to the government in the midst of the continuing high drama at the temple.
