Probe Balabhaskar’s death; family files complaint with DGP
text_fieldsThiruvananthapuram: The family of late Malayalam musician Balabhaskar, who was killed in a road accident, has sought a police probe into the incident.
Balabhaskar’s father C K Unni has filed a complaint to DGP Loknath Behera, seeking to know why the musician made an urgent trip to Thiruvananthapuram.
The fatal accident happened on the national highway near the PallipuRam CRPF camp junction in the wee hours of September 25.
The family was returning after a temple worship at Thrissur. The car which lost control, rammed a tree on the road side.
Balabhaskar’s two-year-old daughter Tejaswini was killed on the spot. Balabhaskar who suffered serious injuries, died on October 2.
His wife Lakshmi and their driver Arjun survived.
A controversy broke out after Lakshmi and Arjun gave contradictory statements.
Arjun had stated that Balabhaskar was behind the wheels while he was resting in the back seat. However, Lakshmi gave a statement that Balabhaskar was sitting in the rear seat when the accident happened.
Balabhaskar had composed music for at least three films, brought out several music albums and had introduced fusion music to Keralites.
The popular violinist began his stage shows at the age of 12 and brought out several music albums which went on to become very popular.
