TDB submits report to court on steps taken for female pilgrims
text_fieldsKochi: Facilities including toilets have been arranged for women devotees at Sabarimala, the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) informed the High Court (HC) on Wednesday.
This is in response to the HC’s direction to TDB to file a statement regarding pre-season works.
A report submitted by Sabarimala special commissioner earlier pointing out delays in works at Sabarimalam, Pampa, Nilakkal and Erumeli triggered the court’s directive.
Of the 500 toilets to be built in Nilakkal, 100 will be exclusively for women pilgrims. The toilets for women will be painted pink to avoid confusion. Separate space for placing ‘viri’ will also be provided for women.
As many as 25 bio-toilets each will be set up in Marakkoottam, near the KSRTC bus stand in Pampa and at the hilltop for female pilgrims, Indian express reported the TDB as saying.
Meanwhile, the protest against implementing SC verdict continued on Wednesday too, with large number of women turned out in streets across Kerala, chanting Ayyappa mantras.
The marches orchestrated by Hindu outfits led to blocking of highways disrupting traffics for hours. Minor scuffle was also reported at places between protesters and the public.
At the forefront of the protest is the Hindu cast outfits including the Nair Service Society ( NSS). Alongside, BJP led NDA started save Sabarimala march from Pandalam.
