Kochi: The BJP Kerala president PS Sreedharan Pillai said that about seven lakh people have taken  membership in the party.  Flocking of the minorities including Malabar region into the party is a beginning of change and response for the mala fide propaganda of the CPM and the Congress. The leader was explaining the decisions of state committee meetings to mediapersons.

Membership campaign was not completed in the fixed time-span due to flood related calamities. So the campaign has been extended for another two weeks. A 20% rise is expected in the number of primary members.

Former MLA and SNDP Union former president Umesh Challiyil, film director Soman Ambat and Seva Dal worker Prakash Attakkulangara are among those who took membership.

16 people including former vice-chancellor of University of Calicut, Dr. Abdul Salam, grandson of Bafaqi Thangal- Taha Bafaqi Thangal, Prof. PK Ummer, Yahya Khan, Dr. Mohammed Jasir, Dr. Harshan Antony and former Kozhikode mayor UT Rajan will be given membership at a function on Wednesday,  Pillai added.

General Secretary Shoba Surendran, BJP spokesperson K. Gopalakrishnan and others took part in the press meet.
