Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijay has expressed his deep grief in the tragic death of KM Basheer, Thiruvananthapuram Bureau chief of Siraaj daily.

In a Facebook post, the CM wrote: "I express my sincere grief in the tragic death of KM Basheer. He was exceptional among the journalists with humble behaviour and active job. We have lost a promising journalist in the untimely death. I joins in the sorrow of the bereaved family."

Leader of Opposition Ramesh Chennithala and Devaswom minister Kadakkampally Surendran were among others who expressed grief at the death of the journalist, who left behind his wife and two children.

KM Basheer was killed an accident happened in the wee hours of Saturday. A car driven by Sriram Venkitaraman rammed into the journalist’s bike. Witnesses told media that the officer was under the influence of alcohol during the event.
