Thiruvananthapuram:  Hours after Sriram Venkitaraman reportedly got a ‘sober chit’ in alcohol test, his woman companion stated to the police that the IAS officer was in an inebriated state and was over- speeding.

Wafa Feroze, an Abu Dhabi-based model and NRI, told police that Sriram took the wheels when they reached in front of Café Coffee Day at Kowdiar. He was then driving at a high speed, and wouldn’t listen to her request to slow down.

As per her statement to police, Sriram asked her to come over with the car to an apartment in Kowdiar. He was celebrating his return to state service as survey director, throwing a cocktail party.

Wafa, a native of Navayikulam, got acquainted with Sriram on Facebook. Wafa told the police that she was also invited to the party.
