Kozhikode: From large towns to small villages, Kerala witnessed widespread protests against Citizenship (Amendment) Act on Friday.
Thousands of people joined the peaceful protests.
People, holding placards and raising slogans against the contentious citizenship law, demanded to repeal the legislation.
Many campuses also joined the protests. Students of Goverment Law College Kozhikode, MAMO College Manasserry, Farook College and others hit the streets on Friday.
A major protest was organised in Kozhikode beach by Popular Front of India. Thousands of people including men and women rallied in the march before they gathered in the beach.
CPI (M), Jamaate Islami Kerala, SIO, Welfare Party, Samasta Kerala Jammiyatul Ulema, Kanthapuram Sunni faction, PDP, NYL, Fraternity and other organisations held protests.
Also, people of Mohallas (parishes) across the state also held protest rallies after Friday prayers.
