Thrissur: A complaint has been filed with the Governor who is the Chancellor of Kerala University of Health against the appointment of Dr. Mohanan Kunnummal as Vice-Chancellor of the university. The complaint was filed by Dr. Praveen Lal Kuttichira who was one the applicants for the VC's post.

Dr. Praveen, who raised several allegations against Mohanan, said in the complaint that the latter earned his post-graduate degrees illegally.  It is also alleged that normal procedures were not followed by the search committee which recommended Mohanan for the post. The search committee did not seek a vigilance clearance before submitting the shortlist of candidates to the government.

Praveen Lal also cited that Mohanan had earned two post-graduate degrees simultaneously from two universities during 1988-91.

The complainant also alleged that the search committee did not conduct a comparative review of the candidates and the selection process was bereft of any criteria. He asked the governor to re-examine the appointment if he as the Chancellor found merit in the complaint.
