Illegal construction at Munnar: Sub collector to move High Court

Kochi: Davikulum sub collector Renu Raj is all set to seek action against S Rajendran MLA for the alleged insult she faced from him.  

Alongside, Renu Raj handed over to the Accountant General(AG) to submit in the court the report regarding the land encroachment in Munnar panchayat

The AG will scrutiny the report for legal errors before submitting it in the High Court.

Meanwhile, Renju Raj lodged complained with chief secretary, revenue principal secretary, and Idduki district collector describing how the sub collector was insulted by the lawmaker.

Giving it a political hue, both revenue minister S. Rajendran and CPI came out in support of the sub collector.

The incident unfolded against the backdrop of the illegal construction continued in the panchayat all though a stop was issued other day by revenue department.  

A building for panchayat was being constructed at the cost of 1.5 crores.

Sub collector intervened to stall the construction and S Rajendran MLA came out questioning the decision, blocking the revenue officials.

The situation turned ugly when he allegedly insulted the sub collector saying Renu Raj had no ‘brains”.

The videos showing the MLA insulting the sub collector went viral on social media.

In response, S Rajendran MLA vaguely apologised. However, CPM district committee has sought explanation from the lawmaker.
