Kasaragod: CPM leadership on Wednesday had to scramble for cover when the wife of Peethambharan, the prime accused in the Kasargod twin murders, minced no words.
Manjusha in unusual mettle revealed that her husband wouldn’t act without the party in the know.
Talking to Madhyamam Daily, she said Peethambaran devoted his entire life for the party, and if he owned up the crime, it would be only for rescuing the party. “It is not right for the party to disown him now” She said.
Manjusha’s diatribe against the party could be the first from the family of an accused in any assassination.
Meanwhile, Peethambharan’s mother Thambayi said her son would not even harm an ant.
“He owned up the crime, only to rescue other party men. He had a steel implant in the left hand so that he couldn’t kill anybody”, She said.
Following Peethambharan’s arrest, on Tuesday night Congress workers ransacked the accused’s house. A group of twenty five miscreants barged into the house, vandalizing and setting fire indoors.
At the time of attack, there were only Manjusha, two daughters and Thambayi. They said the miscreants kicked them. Although they sought help from the party, nobody showed up.
Police reached the scene only after miscreants had left, they said.
The CPM Kerala State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan termed Manjusha’s revelation just as an emotional outburst of the family. He reiterated that the CPM was not behind the double murder.
