Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Tuesday said that the secretaries of local bodies and field staff would be held personally responsible if they failed to get the flex boards, hoardings and other advert materials removed within ten days.

After ten days, the District Collectors would be inspecting the areas. Further, the officials who failed to act would be slapped with penalties, ordered Justice Devan Ramachandran.

The secretaries and the field staff could file police complaints against those who illegally displayed the publicity materials. As well as returning the materials thus removed to those who displayed them, they should be charged the tariff and penalties applicable.

While urging the DGP to communicate the order to Station House Officers, the court directed police to register cases and investigate them.
