Thiruvananthapuram: Days after the stabbing incident, The University College restarted on Monday under tight police vigil.

Police verified ID cards of students, teachers and other employees before permitting entry.  A few who came without ID cards were allowed at the insistence of their teachers.

Meanwhile, authorities are likely to place more stringent vigil in the days to come.  The newly-appointed principal Babu C.C addressed students and later, the teachers meeting lasting one-and-a-half hours

Akhil Chandran, the final-year student, who had been knifed sparking off the controversy, was discharged from the Government Medical College Hospital. He will have to rest for two months.
