Prime accused in Poovar murder case surrenders

Thiruvananthapuram: Akhil, the prime accused in the Amboori Rakhi murder case, was arrested from Thiruvananthapuram international airport as he landed from New Delhi.

Setting a turning point in the gruesome murder, Rahul—brother of Akhil and second accused—had been arrested earlier from a hideout in Malayinkeezhu.

Rahul reportedly confessed to have assisted his brother in the deed. Brothers would be taken to crime scene later.

Rakhimol, a Poovar native, was allegedly picked up by the brothers from the Neyyattinkara KSRTC bus station on June 21, before she was strangled to death at their house in Amboori and buried in a pit.
