Idukki: Huge rocks slipped down on the Kochi-Dhanushkodi National Highway at Gap Road near Munnar on Sunday after the earth caved in, blocking the traffic on the road.

The rocks fell at 4 a.m. from a hill following removal of a chuck of the rock for the road-widening works. No causalities reported in the fall of rocks from a height of 150 feet; however, a few of the rocks fell on the vehicles parked below as they got strewn nearly 400 metres.

Unfortunately a bison was caught in it and officials are trying to extricate the animal from the debris.

However, Devikulam Sub Collector Renuraj who visited spot directed the National Highway (NH) officials to clear the road, it would take at least two weeks, according to sources, to remove the rocks.
