Kochi: Kerala High Court has ordered to take necessary actions to ensure that students availing travel concessiion are not prevented by private bus operators from entering the bus or occupying vacant seats.

The order was issued by justice Anil K Narendran on a petition filed by the All Kerala Bus Operators Organization.

This is the fourth directive by the court to ensure that students are able to travel comfortably in private buses.

The court asked motor vehicle department and police officers to take necessary steps to ensure that no student shall be discriminated in any manner on the ground that he is traveling in that stage carriage on availing student concession.

The court also ordered to initiate actions against crew members of buses and the bus operator in accordance with law, if it is detected that students are prevented from entering the buses or occupying vacant seats.

The court also asked the concerned officials to ensure strict compliance with the high court's directives issued last year to fit doors and to take action if the doors are removed and if they are opened or closed while the buses are in motion.
