Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday termed expatriate investor Parayil Sajan’s suicide “unfortunate”
He also said that appropriate action would be taken against those responsible, if any wrong had been committed.
Meanwhile, UDF lawmakers staged a walkout accusing the government of abetting the suicide of an NRI investor who had toiled 15 years abroad.
The Opposition demanded a police investigation into the incident.
Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala blamed CPM-controlled Anthoor municipality in Kannur for allegedly denying the investor, Parayil Sajan, a chance to open the auditorium he had built spending lifesaving.
Opposition lawmakers targeted Anthoor Municipal chairperson PK Shyamala for stonewalling Sajan’s dream project by allegedly spurning the investor’s requests, and stated that municipal authorities found no violation in the construction.
Lawmaker Sunny Joseph blamed the ‘turf war’ between CPI(M) leader P. Jayarajan and Shyamala as the reason behind the investor’s suicide.
Meanwhile, Sajan’s wife Beena reportedly said that a signature of the authorities would have saved her husband. She blamed Anthoor Municipal chairperson PK Shyama for not help materializing Sajan’s dream project for which he spent his lifesaving.
