Bajrang Dal activists attack two alleging cow smuggling

Kasaragod:  A van driver and his assistant were roughed up at Enmakaje here on Monday morning by alleged Bejranga Dal activists accusing the duo of cow smuggling.

The assailants snatched Rs. 50,000 from the victims and made off with the van which was later found abandoned along with cattle in Bitla here.  

Karnataka natives Hamsa (40), driver of the pickup van, hailing from Parpunja, and his assistant Althaf from Parpunja were attacked.

In their statement to the police, the driver and the assistant identified assailant as a gang led by Bejrang Dal activists Akshay, Rakesh, Mindun, and Ganesh.

The gang threated to do away with them in the event of reporting the incident to the police. They were both admitted to cooperative hospital here seeking treatment for minor injuries.
