“Queens”to serve alongside “kings” at Coffee Houses

Kozhikode: Savouring delicacies at Coffee House is not just about food. The headgear wearing male waiters in white smock looking like kings add flavor to the experience.

Now a bevy of women have joined staff to become ‘queens’ for the first time the chain’s 61-year-long existence.  

Six Women have been hired to run the services at branches including Kozhikode medical college branch and in Kannur.

Two female queens have joined as kitchen assistant at the medical college branch. 

T U Priya, a graduate hailing from Kutalida and P Jayasi, a pre-degree holder, native of Azhiyoor, would get training including in serving, authorities said.

More than 600 workers are there in 28 branches of coffee houses from Kasargod to Palakad under Indian Coffee House workers Co-Operative Society.
