Kevin murder case: Kerala govt cancels order reinstating the accused cop
text_fieldsThiruvananthapuram: An order issued by Kerala government on Thursday cancelled the reinstatement of the tainted police officer MS Shibu.
The former sub inspector of Gandhi Nagar police station in Kottayam was suspended for his alleged involvement in events leading to the murder of Kevin. He was accused of failing to discharge duties.
Meeting Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Kevin’s family appealed to him to revoke the reinstatement of the police official.
Kevin’s family had lodged a complaint of man-missing before he was found dead at a canal near Thenmala Kottayam last May. MS Shibu allegedly delayed the probe into the missing complaint of Kevin.
The Kochi Range IG Vijay Sakhare issued a termination notice to him in February 2019. On May 27, however, Shibu was reinstated to Kottayam district as sub inspector on the order issued by Kochi Range IG.
