Madras Student suicide: Family accuses professor of Islamophobia

Chennai/Kollam: The family of IIT-M student Fathima Latheef, 19, who had committed suicide four days ago, accused a professor of islamophobia making him to insult her in the name of her religion.

“She thought of changing her name” reportedly said Fathima’s mother and added that her daughter was insulted greatly.

Fathima, according to her, in a note on her mobile phone detailed incidents 28 days prior to her death.

Fathima, first-year MA student, was found hanging in the hostel on Saturday morning.

Meanwhile, police have quizzed the accused professor, and a hostel warden in connection with the incident.
