Thiruvananthapuram: BJP Central leadership is believed to be behind not fielding Kummanam Rajasekharan in Vattiyoor Kavu, in favour of choosing Suresh.

The move was to avoid internal squabble in the party. However, RSS is not happy over the decision and moves are on to anoint Kummanam in some key position.

Vattiyoor Kavu is BJP’s hopeful seat after Nemam. Given this, both BJP and RSS were in favour of fielding a strong candidate. Thus, Kummanam emerged as the possible candidate.

Though he was initially unwilling, later he bowed to the pressure from RSS.  BJP leadership meeting held in Ernakulum decided to suggest Kummanam.

As he declared his unwillingness even in this meeting, one faction proposed the name of V V. Rajesh. Another faction came out in the open against this, declaring to boycott even campaigning.

Following this, Suresh and Rajesh were listed as second and third choices consecutively.

Two central leaders in charge of Kerala are believed to be behind axing Kummanam from the list.

Alongside, there are moves to tame Kummanam offering him key position including that of the Party President’s replacing Sreedharan Pillai.
