Kottayam: The police served show cause notice to the rape accused Bishop Franco Mulakkal on complaints of harassment.

The nun who accused the Bishop of rape recently complained of attempt to harass her on social media.

Vaikom SP in the notice asked Franco to field reasons for not annulling the bail granted to him.

The nun in her complaint to Kuruvilangad police earlier said the Bishop and his coterie had tried to slur her on social media. The police registered a case based on the complaint.

The complaint said that Bishop and his coterie used YouTube channel to influence her and witnesses through insult.

The accused allegedly harassed her by publishing her images ahead of the trail of the case.

Thus, the Bishop violated the conditions of the bail, the complaint said.

The probe team said it would approach the High Court for revoking the bail after studying the Bishop’s reply.

Police registered eight cases—including harassment and attempt to influence the victim and witnesses—besides sexual assault against Franco.

However, probe in these cases are on a snail pace;  Meanwhile, Kuruvilangad S I  Mohandas, who registered a case on the nun’s complaint, has been transferred to Kottayam crime branch.
