Thiruvananthapuram: Authorities snapped power and water supply to the illegal apartments in Maradu on Thursday.

In the wee hours of Thursday morning, KSEB authorities turned up with police protection and disconnected power supply to the apartments, and residents woke up to the reality of their losing ground, and mounting pressure to vacate the flats.

At about seven in the morning, water supply to the apartments was also got snapped. Flat owners resisted the government move by making do with generator, and arranging tanker water.

Meanwhile, the apartment's residents have refused to move out of their houses.

CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said the builders should return the amount the flat owners gave to purchase it. In the event of failing to do so, the government would take legal action.
