Kochi: A middle-aged man carried his ailing father on his shoulder and trudged one-kilometer after police stopped his autoriskshaw.

The video of his laborious walk that went viral on social media showed him carrying home his father.

He is learnt to have been taking his 65-year-old father home from the hospital.

He decided to do so after police reportedly stopped the autorickshaw he was driving.

The incident that had taken place in Punalur showed a woman running along with him.

The man alleged that police didn’t allow him drive the auto even after showing hospital documents.

After police flagged down the autorickshaw a kilometer from their house, the family had to walk.

Following uproar on social media, the state human rights commission began probing the incident.

Police, however, denied the incident saying there was no patient in the autorickshaw.

When the driver was asked to show a declaration document, he walked to the hospital and returned carrying his father on his shoulder, police reportedly said.
