Triple lockdown in effect in Kannur


Kannur: As more people getting tested positive for COVID-19 in Kannur each day, police intensified vigil with triple lockdown.

Focusing on areas with more COVID-19 cases and contact cases, the triple lockdown came into being from Wednesday, police said.

Currently, most of the district’s 11 containment zones are in the Thalassery subdivision. More places are likely to be named in the list, reports say.

Containment zones come with one entry and exit point, leaving all other roads closed for traffic.

People in these places would not be allowed out of their houses and essential items would be made available through local bodies.

Also guards would be deployed to see to it people in the containment zones stayed indoors.
