Kochi: As cases of people testing positive after the prescribed quarantine period,  are climbing up, criticism is mounting against the lag in adopting scientific methods. It is pointed out that skipping of test of those who were put under isolation after exposure to the affected persons,  turned into backlash.  1.75 lakh people were placed under observation during the last two months. Experts point out that all those who were under observation should have been tested right at the beginning.

1.5 lakh people passed the quarantine period without any tests. Though the presence of virus in those who completed quarantine period is less harmful, experts warn of community spread through them.

High risk people were asked to be in 28-day quarantine whereas low risk people were prescribed 14 days. Observation was stopped once no symptoms were shown. Samples of only those who showed symptoms were tested.

As more cases of people turning positive after quarantine period are reported, experts call for isolated treatment for them also, as in case of other Covid patients.
