Thiruvananthapuram:  Finance minister Dr Thomas Isaac said that turning off lights simultaneously could be harmful to the power distribution system.

In a Facebook post , he asked PM Modi to amend his appeal to turn off lights as part of lighting the lamps.  

However, he found no issues with lighting lamps or torch to put across the message of unity in the face of COVID-19 crisis.

In what could be called a move to unity, PM Modi had earlier appealed the people to switch off lights and lit lamps on March 5 at 9 pm for 9 minutes.
