Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said on Monday that quarantine facilities have been arranged for Malayalees in foreign countries with COVID-19 infection or suspect of infection.

Diaspora organizations have been alerted to turn special buildings into isolation facilities.

They have conceded to do the same, he said at the press meet.

Diaspora outfits are said to have assured the CM of offering safe quarantine for women referred for isolation.

Also, a letter has been dispatched to foreign affairs minister Jaishankar seeking intervention.

Chief Minister appealed to the schools in gulf countries not to exact fee now and amend the deadline.

In his letter to foreign affair minister, Chief Minister sought to get VISA period extended by six months and implement health insurance.

As for putting in place a protocol for welcoming the Diaspora returning post lockdown, the government would consider the directions of an expert committee.
