Chennai/Thiruvananthapuram: A shocking bus accident in Tamil Nadu's Tirupur on Thursday morning claimed at least 19 lives.
Kerala’s KSRTC bus collided with a container truck on the Coimbatore highway, killing and wounding many men and women at 4.30 am.
The truck was moving on the wrong side of the road as the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus was on its way from Bangaluru from Ernakulam. The accident occured near Avinashi town of Tirupur district.
Officials fear the toll might go up, as 23 passengers have been injured of the 48 seats occupied.
The truck driver is absconding, and police have initiated search for him.
Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan directed Palakkad District Collector to provide emergency medical care to the injured.
