NSO survey not linked with NPR, says NSO official

Thiruvananthapuram: A top NSO official made it clear on Monday that National Sample Survey Organization has no connection with NPR.

Talking to press, Deputy Director General Sunitha Baskar said that NSO will collect information regarding the social and economic structure which is essential for the developmental planning.

Information gathered related to family and institutions will be preserved secretly, and the same would not be handed over to other departments of the government.

NSO officials gather information through questionnaire or tablet application. Gross misunderstanding from the part of the public often lead to protest during the NSO survey.  NSO conducts economic census.

There is no link between NSO and NPR and reluctance to part with information could adversely affect the survey.

The top official also appealed the public to cooperate with the survey.
