Thiruvananthapuram: The Justice Hema Commission submitted its report on issues faced by women in Malalyalam movie industry to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday

One of the key issues the commission found during probe includes the existence of casting couch. Actors the commission spoke to were afraid of opening up about the issue.

The three-member panel, constituted in July 2017 after Women In Cinema Collective appealed CM to form one, included veteran actor Sharada and retired IAS officer KB Valsala Kumari.

The report carries evidences of sexual exploitation of debutant actress for opportunities. Women face human right violations during the filming of movies, according to the report.

The commission made many recommendations including fine and ban, on those who do not ensure safe atmosphere and facilities for women in cinema.
