Abolish governor’s post, says Sitaram Yechury

Thiruvananthapuram: Talking to media following the Central Committee meeting here, CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury called for a discussion on abolishing the governor post.

His comments could gain importance in the wake of the on-going standoff between the governor and Kerala government over CAA.

Yechuri said the governor’s post is superfluous and remnant of colonial era. States are not subjects of the Centre as the Centre-state relations are well defined in the constitution and other documents.
