Kozhikode:  CPM Kozhikode District Secretary P. Mohanan has virtually rejected Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's take by saying that it is too early to call Alan Shuhaib and Thaha Fasal,  two CPM activists arrested under UAPA charges as  Maoists. Mohanan said that the jailed youths should be heard before leaping into conclusions.

"Chief Minister echoes the police version.  The party so far has not taken any action against the youths. The party is trying to correct them. The party is taking the complaint filed by the parents of youth seriously"  Mohanan said in a press conference held here today.

"UAPA is a black law. The police went wrong in imposing  UAPA charges against Allan and Thaha. CPM holds the view that UAPA cannot be charged against Maoists," he continued.

Strong resentment is brewing up inside and outside the party against the arrest of the two youths. It is learnt that the party had to take a U-turn as it was put under pressure after the UDF leaders MK Muneer and Ramesh Chennithala visited the houses of the youths and extended their support in the fight for the youths’ release.
