Malappuram: Manjeri Municipality here sent and withdrew a letter to schools regarding National Population Register after it kicked up controversy.
The letter sought the details of teachers willing to participate in the NPR survey. The move is contrary to it stand which included a resolution objecting CAA, NRC and NPR.
The notification had been sent by the municipal secretary to 12 schools in the area and it was quickly withdrawn as criticism rose.
Authorities maintained that it was a clerical mistake on the part of officials.
