Thiruvananthapuram: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday sought to house students Alan and Thah, arrested for allegedly distributing pro-Maoist pamphlets, in separate jails.

The court however directed the investigation agency to submit the reasons behind the move in order to consider the same.

Both the students have been remanded for fourteen days and they have been shifted to high security prison in Thrissur.

Thaha  and Alan—students of journalism and law respectively, and also the CPI(M)'s branch committee members--were arrested on November 2 from Kozhikode, kicking up controversy in the state.
