Thiruvananthapuram: The 24-hour nation-wide strike called by ten trade unions will begin at midnight on Tuesday.

The joint front of trade unions called the strike in protest against ‘ anti-labour’ policies of the central government.

The union leaders said that shops and businesses in the state will remain shut through the strike from midnight to midnight.

CITU general secretary Elamaram Karim said no shops would be forced shut, Sabarimal Pilgrims have been exempted from the strike.

Universities including Kerala, Mahatma Gandhi and Kannur have put off all examinations scheduled for Wednesday.
