Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday said  that the state recorded 449 Covid19 positive cases during last 24 hours. Of these, source of infection of 18 infectees is unknown. 144 contracted the disease through contact. However 162 were declared cured.

12,230 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. 1,80,594 people are under observation. 4376 people are in hospitals. On Monday alone, 713 people were admitted to hospital.

As part of sentinel surveillance 78,002 samples were collected from the priority groups. Of thses 74,676 samples were tested negative.

The number of hotspots in the state climbed to 233.
