DGP approaches Press Council of India regarding fake news against police

Thiruvananthapuram: State police chief Lokanath Behera approached the Press Council of India on Tuesday with a complaint against section of media for carrying fake news against the police in the sensational gold smuggling case.

 Earlier IG Sreejith sought action in his complaint to DGP against fake news, and DGP in his turn has taken up the matter with Press Council of India.

 There were reports about the smugglers’ phone calls linking to higher-ups in the state.

Meanwhile, Customs has grilled former principal secretary to the Chief Minister regarding the smuggling case.
