Thiruvananthapuram: As the Covid 19 situation continues grim, The Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) decided against allowing devotees to the Sabarimala temple, while cancelling the annual temple festival.

Reports say the temple board and the high priest differed over opening of the temple, and thus the government has called a meeting.

Devawom minister Kadakampally Surendran denied any difference between the priest family and the TDB.

He also said that a decision was not taken not to allow devotees in the view of covid situation.

Tantri Kandararu Mohanararu said that it was not ideal to permit devotees at this point, citing the peaking COVID situation in karalla and other states.
