Police yet to crack the mystery behind Kottayam woman’s murder
text_fieldsKottayam: Mystery behind the murder of Sheeba Salih continues while her husband Mohammad Salih remains unconscious in a hospital here.
Sheeba, 55, died from wounds after she was found in a pool of blood in her home Shani Manzil, Parappadath in Thazhathangadi on Monday morning. Close where she lay, Muhammed Salih was found unconscious with gashes.
Police surmise that many financial dealings the couple had, led to dispute giving way to murder.
A gang must have involved in the murder, although not a plotted one, according to some inputs gleaned from the police investigation.
Their objective may have been to extort money from the couple. Police concluded so after considering the weapons used that were not lethal.
Provoked from a dispute, the assailants may have attacked the couple with the tea table in the room.
There is no evidence of the couple having been electrocuted although electric wires were seen wrapped around the couple.
Also, the assailants may have first attacked Sheeba before turning to Salih. Afterwards they ransacked the house and left gas from a cylinder leaking into the room. They fled the house in the couple's car.
Sheeba’s relatives complain of missing gold bangles, chain and earrings she had worn and those stored in the cupboard as well.
Stealing of gold could be an attempt at misleading the probe, to turn it into a murder during burglary.
The police reportedly found CCTV images of a person fleeing the crime scene in a car.
Police hope to nab the culprits within two days.
