‘Italy’ lets us down, in the midst of 'China scare'.

Kozhikode: While the state could effectively fight early Covid 19 cases that emerged from China, those from Italy sneaked in.

Passengers who arrived from China including students were effectively put in observation thus harnessing further infections.

Most of them were medical students and they were ready for voluntary quarantine. As for those who sneaked in without informing, both their relatives and activists helped health officials sharing the news.

Also the camp set up by the Centre for China returnees helped Kerala.

Health minister K K Shailaja and others were brimming with confidence from effective steps taken to track down every single returnee.

And those who tested positive for Covid 19 in Alapuzha and Thrissur later were found to be negative, further boosting the confidence.

It was then one family who returned from Italy that arrived skirting the health monitoring.  It seems many in charge were not heedful of the government direction on monitoring people returning from Italy in the wake of increasing cases there.

Many experts believe that the situation will wear off over a month and normalcy set in.

Also, the death rate from Covid 19 globally is just one percent, there is nothing much to worry about, and people should only remain alert and it could be fought out, experts say.
