Mahe: A 68-year old woman has tested positive for COVID-19 in Mahe here, becoming the first confirmed case in Puducherry.

The condition of the patient admitted to the Mahe Government General Hospital is stable, according to health officials.

The woman, who had returned from Umrah Pilgrimage on Friday, informed the health officials of the trip. After developing cold and fever, officials examined her visiting her home.

She was taken to Beach Hospital, in Kochikode.  On returning to home later, she was admitted to Mahe Hospital with the help of police.

Relatives and others in contact with her are under observation.
