Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Union of Working Journalists protested against the police’s move to frame journalists for reporting a COVID-19 situation in Kalamassery medical College.

This deplorable move by police comes just as media intensely lead awareness campaign on COVID-19.

Pressuring journalists to confess the source as well as trying to frame them is against the freedom of press.

The report in question revealed a letter by district medical officer to district collector, and police commissioner regarding absconding of a suspected COVID-19 patient from isolation ward.

As well as summoning to the station, police seized their phone for hours, which is undemocratic, KUWJ said.

KUWJ submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister and police chief demanding suspension of the officials involved in the incident.
