Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Police on Tuesday announced that it would hold an online hackathon titled Code-Vid-19 to get ideas on how to cope with the COVID-19 virus, that has taken a toll of Kerala.

Ninety one people in Kerala have so far tested positive, with over 63,000 people under observation. Doctors are keeping their fingers crossed as more test results are expected.

The Cyberdome wing of the Kerala Police has asked all those interested to log on to their link at the Cyberdome, latest by March 29.

It has been titled 'Come forward, showcase your technical skills, stop-prevent, contain the pandemic COVID-19'.

State Police chief Aloknath Behra on Tuesday evening conducted vehicle checks on the roads and later told the media that since it was the first day of the lockdown, some leniency was being shown to violators.

"It won't be like this from now on, and we will under no circumstances allow anyone to come out for a ride and such things. Very strong action will be taken against those who violate the directives. This is being enforced for the benefit of the people only," said Behra.
