Govt finally shuts down liquor stores

Thiruvananthapuram: After swaying undecided for days, finally the Kerala government ordered to shut down all liquor shops and outlets in the state.

Even after non-essential shops were shut down, liquor shops remained open, drawing in both crowds and widespread criticism.

Meanwhile, bars were closed on Monday.

Following the decision, 265 outlets run by Bevco and 36 managed by the Consumerfed have been shut.

Also government is reportedly mulling over selling liquor online.
